Fun Fact 1 The Taj Mahal was built by the emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife, his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died whilst giving birth to their 14th child.

Fun Fact 2 The Taj Mahal is one of the most famous buildings in the world and it is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh which is in the north of India.

Fun Fact 3: The building's architecture is very special as it is a fine form of Mughal architecture which combines different Indian, Islamic and Persian designs.

Fun Fact 4: The Taj Mahal was constructed during the mid-17th Century, approximately during the years of 1632 to 1653.

Fun Fact 5: The Taj Mahal is a beautiful structure from white marble with fine detail. It stands on a plinth bounded by four minarets. The definition of a minaret is a tall, slender tower housing a balcony from which an appointed official called a muezzin calls people for pray.

Fun Fact 7: The definition of 'mausoleum' is a large building housing a tomb. The Taj Mahal contains a beautiful mausoleum which was completed in 1648.

Fun Fact 8: The construction of the Taj Mahal took more than 22 years to complete. It took the work of more than 22,000 men and 1,000 elephants over the years to finish off this incredible building which would become one of the finest manmade structures the world had ever seen.
