Fun Fact 6: Herbert Hoover was a self made millionaire by time he was forty, earning his money from engineering, owning silver mines and from writing books on mining engineering. For this reason he did not take a salary as president, he donated it to charity. He was the first millionaire president!

Fun Fact 8: 17,000 veterans of World War I and 43,000 supporters protested during the spring and summer of 1932 what was called 'The Bonus Army March'. The marchers demanded payment of service certificates given to them by government. General Douglas MacArthur was called in to conduct order and his harsh treatment added to the negative opinions of Herbert Hoover
