The US constitution can be described as a document that consists of a collection of rules, principles and laws that regulate the American government it was compiled in 1787 at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia

Fun Fact 1 George Washington was born on February 22nd 1732

Fun Fact 2 He was born in Westmoreland County which is in the State of Virginia

Fun Fact 3: George Washington's father died when he was 11 years old. He had a very basic education and his mother could not afford to send him to college, he left school at the age of 15

Fun Fact 4: He grew to be 6ft 2'' which was exceptional at that time as people were generally much smaller, he still ranks as one of the tallest US presidents

Fun Fact 5: George Washington had very bad teeth!  He wore false teeth made of ivory set in silver. Some suggest that the ivory may have been from either a walrus or a hippopotamus

Fun Fact 6: He was the 1st president of America. He was unanimously voted in, in 1789 and served as president for 8 years (until 1797)

Fun Fact 7: George Washington gave the shortest inauguration (swearing in) speech in American history; it was just 133 words long

Fun Fact 9: During his lifetime he played a key role in major events of American history including the forming of the Constitution of the USA and establishing the 1791 Bill of Rights

Fun Fact 11: George Washington's life was not without illness, during his lifetime he suffered from Malaria, Smallpox, Tuberculosis, Dysentery and Pneumonia. He also survived many bullets during war

Fun Fact 12: A sculpture of George Washington's head, measuring 60-foot high (18 m) is carved into the granite of Mount Rushmore, South Dakota

Fun Fact 13: He was the only founding father who freed his slaves. He had personal control of at least the 124, his wife had control of many more and she set them free a year after George Washington's death

Fun Fact 14: The capital city of Washington was named after him, although he never lived there

Fun Fact 15: George Washington died on Saturday December 14th 1799 at his Mount Vernon estate. He lived to the age of 67
