Fun Fact 1 On his birth Tiger Woods was named Eldrick Tont Woods. His father gave him the nickname Tiger as a honor to a fellow soldier whom he met during the Vietnam war.

Fun Fact 3: Tiger Woods has only been married once. He married model Elin Nordegren in 2004. Following problematic times, the couple divorced in 2010.

Fun Fact 4: Tiger Woods has two children. Their names are Sam Alexis Woods, born 2007, and Charlie Axel Woods, born 2009.

Fun Fact 5: Tiger Woods' parents are Earl Woods and Kultida Woods. They met in Bangkok while his father was working as an army officer. His father was athletic, he was a single figure handicap amateur golfer and introduced Tiger to golf at a young age.

Fun Fact 6: Tiger Woods purchased a $39 million estate residence in Florida called Jupiter Island in 2006. He moved to the residence in 2010 following his divorce.

Fun Fact 7: Tiger Woods has made some outstanding achievements. He was the youngest African American 21 year old to win the U.S. masters in 1997, with a record score of 270.

Fun Fact 8: In 1984, Tiger Woods won the Junior World Golf Championship, he was only 8 years old at the time, he had to be placed in the group for 9-10 year olds as there wasn't one for under 9's.

Fun Fact 9: Tiger has won many golfing competitions. He won the Optimist International Junior tournament six times at ages 8, 9, 12, 13, 14 and 15.

Fun Fact 10: As a young boy, tiger suffered with a bad stutter, he did overcome this problem and believes that winning various competitions helped him to do so.

Fun Fact 11: After Tiger's 21st birthday, he signed several endorsements with some major companies including Nike, American Express and General Motors. He also has his own range of video games called Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

Fun Fact 12: In 2010, Tiger hit the headlines as it came to light that he had been unfaithful to his wife Elin who filed for divorce in 2010. The news of Tiger's infidelity meant that he was dropped by many of his endorsements.

Fun Fact 13: Tiger is the only man to be awarded the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year in 1996 and 2000.

Fun Fact 14: One of Tiger's longest standing coaches was Hank Haney who was his coach from 2003 to 2010. Sean Foley took over as Hank resigned from his position the day after Tiger pulled out of the final round of the Players Championship.

Fun Fact 15: Tiger has won various awards throughout his golfing career including Golf Digest Player of the Year in 1991 and 1992. The Golf World Player of the Year in 1992 and 1993. Golf Man of the Year in 1994.
