Fun Fact 1 Diana Ross was born on March 26th, 1944 in Detroit in the United States of America. Her middle names are Ernestine Earle. She was born Diane but due to an admin error, her name became Diana.

Fun Fact 4: Diana Ross' parents were named Ernestine and Fred. Her mother was a school teacher and her father was a former Army soldier. Diana was raised in Detroit and one of her neighbor's was fellow American singer song writer Smokey Robinson.

Fun Fact 5: The Primettes were a sister group which Diana joined at the age of 15. The other members of the group at the time were called Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard and Betty McGlown. They auditioned to Motown Records with their song 'There Goes My Baby'. Gordy was reluctant to sign the group as they had yet graduated. However, he agreed to do so as long as they agreed to change the band's name to 'Supremes'.

Fun Fact 6: The Supremes struggled for a time but they quickly rose to fame after the release of their first hit song called 'When the Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes'.

Fun Fact 7: The first number one hit for The Supremes was 'Where Did Our Love Go'. During the 1960s, the band produced or sang on many US and UK hit singles.

Fun Fact 8: Gordy wanted Diana Ross to commence a solo singing career, however, he held off until the early 1970s as the band was still very successful. He changed the name of the group to Diana Ross & The Supremes.

Fun Fact 9: Diana Ross became a solo artist in the early 1970s after signing a contract with Motown.

Fun Fact 10: One of Diana Ross' most successful hit songs from her early solo years was 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'. The song reached number one and achieved Diana her first Grammy Award nomination.
